I had a quick look around and couldn't identify anything so I did the usual Windows thing of rebooting - this at around 17:00. Yesterday at around 16:15 CPU suddenly went to at or near 100%, all on the System process. The storage is provided through the VMWare host, from a combination of 3PAR and Nexsan hardware. Software and the only firewall changes are to allow the apps I have already mentioned to work. Currently no AV software but this is a limited pilot, all the client machines have their own AV It is monitored using Nagios, currently only on the basic probes of disk space, CPU and memory. I manage it remotely from another Server 2008 machine,Īnd it is backed up overnight using CommVault. It's Server 2008 R2 圆4 Server Core, with FSRM-Infrastructure-Core and the Powershell features installed. The machine is a single core virtual machine with 2GB of RAM running on VMWare ESX 4. I cannot identify what would be causing this and I wondered if anyone had any ideas. Over the last couple of days I have been getting high CPU usage (97-100%) in the "System" process (no, not the System Idle Process). Hi all, I have been running 2008 R2 Server Core for about the last month as part of a pilot to establish whether it's going to suit us as our standard file server OS.
